Peter Drucker, the famous business management theorist, said that beyond just making a profit or creating wealth for stakeholders, the essence of a company is making a difference, being really useful, and creating something the world really needs.
I couldn’t agree more with Mr. Drucker on this topic. If the purpose for a company’s existance is purely profits, then it is driven by pure greed. And we all know where greed as a motivator gets you in the end.
Catholic Media Group is aiming to make a difference in a few ways. We want to have a purpose. To make a difference. And we want our advertisers and website publishers to feel that purpose. To be part of that purpose.
Instead of having a goal of maximizing revenue, our goals are little different. This is a Catholic organization, after all. We have a higher purpose at hand.
Every organization needs to bring in money to pay the bills for performing its mission. Non-profits and charitable organizations, just like for profit companies, must find ways to get the money to pay their expenses. Like every other organization on the planet we are not ashamed of bringing in money to keep the operations going.
That being said our goal is to use that revenue above and beyond our every day expenses to help other faithful Catholic groups out. We are called by the teachings of Jesus Christ to do that. It’s part of our purpose, as Peter Drucker said, that a successful company must have.
Some of the ways Catholic Media Group lives out this purpose of sharing what it has been given:
- Giving away reduced, at cost or free advertising spots to faithful Catholic groups that otherwise wouldn’t have the funds to get the message about their mission out to the masses.
- Donating some of our profits to faithful Catholic groups who really need some money to fulfill their mission.
- Giving away free advertising spots to website publishers who run ads in our ad network.
Are you part of a group that could use some free exposure? Help us fulfill our corporate purpose. Help us make a difference.
